Care and Cleaning: Wool Bags
Picture
Jack + Cookie handbags are made of 100% merino Wool. felt  felt is a natural product.
Sheep's wool is highly regarded for its crimped, elastic fibers that are easily felted to form a fabric that cannot be pulled apart. This translates into durability, excellent dye ability, resistance to flame and compression, and thermal and sound insulation. Plus, this natural fiber is a rapidly renewable resource (it grows back!) and is 100% biodegradable.
The processing of wool requires very little environmental impact compared to other natural fibers or man-made fibers.
Natural lanolin protects the fibers  and will keep your bag looking like new.
In the worst case,   Sheeply Chic and Jack + Cookie wool bags  can be spot cleaned or once the leather is removed, safely soaked (like a fine sweater) in warm water.   If you have any concerns contact BABS and we will clean your bag for you.  It it may become necessary to remove minor pilling with a sweater shaver.

Care and Cleaning: WAXT Canvas

Waxed canvas is an extremely durable fabric that requires minimal care. However, just as you should not wash fabric upholstery or a leather product such as shoes, gloves, or jackets, you should not dry clean or use detergent on your waxed canvas bag. Wax fabrics have been successfully used for many years without washing.
A periodic cleaning with a hose, damp cloth or soft scrub brush for heavy dirt is all that is needed. Your shower works equally as well. Sometimes a mild bar or flake soap (not detergent) or even Saddle soap will remove stubborn stains. Darker shades are more successful than lighter shades in not showing soiling.
You can also apply  a wax refinishing ointment, which left to absorb for a day or so (a hair dryer will speed the process) will restore the wax finish. Iron only on low heat with a thin cloth or craft paper barrier between the fabric and the iron in order to redistribute wax and relax the fabric.
To be completely satisfied with the performance of your bag  there are several important issues to remember: TRY water first with a slight brushing or scrubbing. USE a little bar soap or flaked soap or Saddle soap, only if necessary, on specific areas only. Sometimes a small amount of ammonia will help. NEVER use detergent, liquid or powdered. NEVER dry clean.
Use and enjoy your waxed cotton product. It is rugged and made for active outdoor use. It is weather-tough and made for your next adventure.
